Our Brands

Our Story

Founded in 1969 by Nicholas Janikies, The Jan Companies began with the opening of Rhode Island’s first Burger King. Guided by Nick’s entrepreneurial vision, the company grew into one of the largest Burger King franchisees in New England and later expanded into beloved regional favorites like Newport Creamery, world-renowned Krispy Kreme, and private country clubs.

Today, under the leadership of the second generation of the Janikies family, The Jan Companies remains committed to growth, stewardship, and community.

Real Estate

Our philosophy of long-term ownership has guided the development of a diverse real estate division. With holdings across retail, hospitality, commercial, and development assets, The Jan Companies has built a portfolio designed for stability and growth.

A Legacy, A Future

With more than fifty years of success behind us, The Jan Companies continues to look forward. From expanding our restaurant portfolio to strategic real estate growth, we remain committed to building enduring businesses that strengthen communities.
